Blackmail scam
Abuser: [email protected]
I applied to a job posting for voiceover work on Upwork.com that was made by account that was only one day old and has since been removed from the site. I was instructed by "Jennifer Brooks" on Upwork to add [email protected] on Skype, who did a short text interview with me claiming to work for Intango. She immediately sent me a letter of employment and the pdf of a check for $3800, which she said I would need to use to purchase equipment from a third party vendor right away to start my work doing voiceover work with Intango. The check came from the email [email protected]. https://intangous.com/ forwards to your site, intango.com, but anyone could easily buy that domain and set that up. These are clear indicators of a fake check scam. "Gal" insisted many times to me to do a mobile check deposit right away and spend the money as soon as it appeared in my account. When I refused to send the money by Zelle from my bank account, she asked me to send it in Bitcoin to this address. Soon afterward, the check would bounce and the money would be deducted from my account after I would have already spent it at the "vendor" they tell me to. I did not deposit the check. I wanted to see what other information Gal would give me, but she's not proceeding any further until I show her a screenshot of the deposited check. This appears to be a very sophisticated and well-planned attempt to fake being part of the Intango company. "Gal" refused to do a call with me for obvious reasons, and all our exchanges were by text. I am happy to do whatever I can to help you stop these scammers. I am sure I am not the only one on Upwork they tried this with.
