When I checked my Spam Folder for my Hotmail account there was an emailed extortion threat from a "John Doe". This email had the subject "I can ruin your life " and also included a password I have used online in the past. The email stated that I had been infected with a malware tool called RAT (remote administration tool), and that my computer, online bank accounts, and webcam had all been accessed, and that there was a sexually explicit video of me that could be sent to my contacts and posted online. To prevent this from happening, I was asked to transfer "exactly 1400$ in bitcoin (BTC)" directly to the email sender's wallet. This was to be done within 3 days. The email also stated to not show this email to anyone as that would make the situation worse.
