Please don't send this person $$$ Your PC is obviously not hacked and this guy is trying to scare you (I have no webcam). Maybe your email and corresponding password is leaked through some online service. You can check here https://haveibeenpwned.com I do recommend changing passwords and the use of different passwords for each service (whatever needs email signup).

Ignore this guy's blackmail e-mail. He has nothing but just 1 password and your e-mail address. He has none of your data/info/video and he doesn't know anything about your friends. Why? Because he doesn't know how to hack. Most importantly, he doesn't know who has paid or not paid him. Why bother?

Hi, I know one of your passwords is: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Your computer was infected with my private malware, your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit". My malware gave me full access to all your accounts (see password above), full control over your computer and it also was possible to spy on you over your webcam. I collected all your private data and I RECORDED YOU (through your webcam) SATISFYING YOURSELF! After that I removed my malware to not leave any traces and this email was sent from some hacked server. I can publish the videos of you and all your private data on the whole web, including the darknet, where the very sick people are, social networks, over email of all contacts. But you can stop me and only I can help you out in this situation. Transfer exactly 800$ in bitcoin (BTC).

Fake hacker found a password/email address lists from a trashed hard drive of a xxx website and pretend able to hack people's PC. If he can hack, there's no reason to use a website password, but more convincing to show a user/admin password of the hacked PC. He proves himself that he is not able to hack. No need to pay him anything.

Show up with one of my (very old) passwords to claims that he's hacked my PC. Yes, it was my password that I used more than 10+ years ago. Only my newer laptop that I bought 3 years ago has a cam. But I haven't used that old password even before I bought the new laptop. How does this guy captured that old password while I'm using my new laptop? This guy's pants must be completely burnt by now.

Why would someone hacked my PC but trying to use an online website password as a proof? Simply using a PC's valid username and password will be a lot more convincing. Furthermore, that was an old password that I haven't used for 5+ years, and he's captured me using this old password recently? Get a real job and stop wasting people's time please.

Why only show a password but no username? Why "assume" I have a webcam and recorded videos of me? Why believe that I've got $800 when I don't have (but getting all my personal data should be able to tell)? Why beg for $800 and not directly use my password to take money from my bank account online? Sigh! Even want to scam people, you still need to be somewhat intelligent. Go back to school.
