Same old scam trying to show up with an outdated password saying that he has control of the PC. Ask for a certain amount of bit coin as ransom. I've received similar (almost exactly the same e-mail content) several times from different senders already. Never paid any of them and never has anything happened

I'm trying to report a blackmail scam here, but saw a "Malwarebytes" ad on the top right corner of the page. What!? Does Bitcoin know about people using BTC as a blackmail platform and yet try to sell Malwarebytes instead of stopping/catching the blackmailer? So BTC is helping the blackmail criminals and selling the solution so as to get double paid?

Blackmail scam

This person trying to trick me by showing an old password of mine in his email, and persuade me that he has taken control of my computer and already planted malware in it. Furthermore, he has also recorded some footage of me showing my ugly side. He blackmail me for $900 bitcoin. But when I think about it. If this person has already captured all my passwords, why didn't he just login to my online bank or credit card account to take money directly? After all, this person has only show me 1 (and very old password, which I haven't used it for years). Does he really hacked my computer, or he might grab my password from a hard drive that used to belong to an old website (that is recently closed and sold all the properties, including the hard drive?

Lazy people need some new idea. Someone picked up a trashed hard drive and found an old password lists, then use the passwords to send e-mail to people pretend able to hack the PC and has recorded user's videos (of bad content). Claiming will post those bad video in social media if not pay the amount of bitcoin as ransom. This scam is too old.

If someone took control of my computer, simply open Notepad and tell me, why need to send an e-mail to me. Furthermore, a person who has taken control of my computer will at least able to tell my name, right? You want bitcoin? Go study more.

Using one of my old passwords try to pretend able to hack my computer. You know, using a password is not consider a hack. Please do not give hackers a bad name. If you want to convince me you have captured my footage, simply show me a sample video will do. If you can't show me a video (e.g. as a product), I won't buy it.

Claims to have hacked and put (his own developed) malware on my PC and captured everything about me. Well, someone has such talent can get a software engineer job for 100k+ USD easily. Or at least will able to blackmail important people (such as the president for millions). Instead, he's begging me for $900 bitcoin. Do you think I believe it?

Wow! I can't believe this old scam still going on. I've got at least 4 of such e-mail (not sure from the same person or not, but I believe the e-mail content are the same) about able to control my PC and will put my ugly video on the internet if I don't pay them a certain amount of bitcoin. After all these years and I haven't seen my video anywhere that I'm looking forward to.

If this person is trying to blackmail you for bitcoin, simply ignore him. Seeing so many reports to this account and imagine how big of a hard drive he will need to keep all the people's (not just those who has reported + a lot more that hasn't reported here) personal data + the videos he has recorded, this person is likely broke and not able to pay and access internet service anymore.
